Remember in my Success in School post when I said that I don’t drink coffee?
Well, it’s true that I don’t.
Why am I sharing a coffee smoothie?
Well, just because I don’t love coffee, doesn’t mean everyone else is the exact same as me.
I know that there are many coffee lovers out there, and I would hate to leave you all out! Especially since I know how easy it is to make a healthy coffee drink that still tastes like Starbucks. I’d hate to keep that a secret. So I won’t: Here is my Caramel Mocha Smoothie.
I know that so many of you love Starbucks, and trust me, I get it. I mean, I live in Western Washington. You could throw a rock in any direction and you’ll probably hit a coffee shop, and there’s a good chance that it’d be Starbucks. I live pretty close to 3 of them. Isn’t it weird that I live less than an hour away from Seattle and don’t like coffee? Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on me, either.
It’s not that I absolutely hate coffee, I just need to have it flavored well (I like some coffee with my cream). I hate the taste of black coffee, but I don’t mind coffee when it’s mixed with some other ingredients…does that make sense or am I just rambling at this point?
Anyways, many coffee drinks you can find at coffee shops are yummy, but super high in fat, sugar, and have very little nutritional value. I wanted to create a sweet coffee drink that you can feel good about drinking every morning. This is an excellent drink to have with your breakfast and as a snack. It tastes like it has 500 calories, when it actually has half. If you love your coffee, but want a healthier alternative, look no further than this super easy caramel mocha. It is an iced mocha, so it is more appealing to people like me who prefer cold coffee or frappes.
As a coffee-hater, I really love this caramel mocha smoothie! It’s easy, delicious, and gives me a bit of an energy boost, even though I try not to have a lot of caffeine. This isn’t a daily drink for me, but I really do think that anyone who loves coffee will like this. I hope that I don’t lose points for using instant coffee. I just think it’s the easiest to use for those with busy schedules. If you don’t mind, I think you’ll enjoy this caramel mocha that tastes wayyy more indulgent than it really is!
- One Cup Almond Milk
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 1/2 Cup-One Cup Ice
- 1.5 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Agave or Maple Syrup
- 1-2 Tsp Instant Coffee (I like 1 Tsp for a drink that is less bitter)
- 1/4 Tsp Caramel Extract
- 1/4 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1-3 Spoonfuls Coconut Cream (Optional)
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and the ice is blended into tiny chunks, about 1-2 minutes depending on power of blender.
- If using coconut cream, pour smoothie into a tall glass and add a spoonful or 2 of coconut cream to the top.
- Best if served immediately!
I just had to share a real moment with you all! Right after getting a couple good shots (thankfully), the drink fell and made the biggest mess. Blogger problems to the max!
Nobody is perfect, and stuff goes wrong, and that’s totally ok. I hope you have an awesome day, and I hope you enjoy yourself even if you do have a little mess up every now and then!
