I always say that I make the best guacamole. Do I really? Well, maybe not, but I love mine the most because I obviously make it to suit my taste preferences.
Guacamole is very hit or miss for me, and it all depends on one ingredient: onion.
Fun fact: I absolutely hate the taste of raw onion. I can barely stomach it. If a guac recipe has onion, it’s almost a deal-breaker for me. I just can’t do it.
Now, I understand onion’s purpose in guac. Onion really helps to enhance the flavor.
Now, what do I use to replace the onion: Garlic.
I swear garlic makes everything better. I remember one of my professor’s making a comment on how garlic is good, but you don’t want too much of it in a dish. I respectfully disagree. Not once have I tried a meal and thought, “man, too much garlic”. It’t just not possible for me. Fellow, garlic lovers, this guac is all for you!
This kinda-creamy-kinda-chunky guac is perfect for Summer BBQ’s, game day, movie night, or just anytime you want some chips and guac-you can also use it to top off any burrito, taco, or any other dish.
While garlic is a main ingredient (besides avocados of course!), other ingredients, such as: lime juice, kosher salt, jalapeño, cilantro, and cumin come together to create an irresistibly delicious flavor! Can onion find its way into the mix? Yeah, if you want. I think that 1/2 onion would work if you skipped on a clove of garlic. I am totally open to you adjusting my recipes to suit your preferences! I want my recipes to be something that you and your loved ones can enjoy!
While I fully believe that anyone who loves (or even likes) garlic will enjoy this delicious guac, feel free to adjust the ingredients around if you feel that it would better for you, and this applies to all of my recipes-we all have different taste buds, and I like that!
That being said, I hope you love this healthy, delicious guacamole. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy guac, so I say embrace it!
