Pops of color hold the key to my heart.
To me, there are very few things more beautiful than a pop of color..not just in makeup, but in life as well.
I absolutely love teal and aqua under the eyes, which you can see (here).
I just love the beachy look of aqua eyes, coral lips, and waves. It’s one of my favorite looks for Summer, especially on those days when I feel like being by the water, but don’t plan on swimming.
I know how intimidating these types of colors can be. It took years for me to be comfortable with them. Now, I am absolutely obsessed, and I have a pop of color on my lower lash line all. the. time. in the Spring and Summer. Don’t think you only have to go with blues and aquas. You can also go with: purples, pinks, greens, and everything in between! You could also create an ombre effect on the lower lash line (maybe an idea in the next few weeks for MOTW?). Also, don’t forget about all the beautiful lips options for the Summer: neons, pinks, oranges, corals, reds, and just your average nude. Summer really is an amazing season for makeup experimentation. It doesn’t have my heart the way Fall looks do (I am forever loyal to dark lipstick), but it sure does keep me inspired.
I just love how we can use makeup as a form of expression. I love wearing my makeup based off of where I’m going or what I’m doing. It makes the whole experience even more exciting and personalized. As I always say, memories before makeup. However, makeup and fashion can enhance your memories and your day. Sometimes, when I look at older photos, I remember what I was doing that day because of my makeup or outfit. It really can make a difference in your memories sometimes. I say have fun with your looks. Life is short, and while you never have to worry about what you look like, you also don’t have to worry about stepping outside of your comfort zone.
Today’s makeup will forever remind me of my day at my local beach/park. I love that.

*I unintentionally used a lot of non-cruelty-free products. I own lots of Benefit products because I used to work at Macy’s, and I would buy from Benefit all the time with my employee discount. I was obviously very uneducated on animal testing. Once I use up the products, I will no longer own or use any Benefit products unless the brand decides to go 100% cruelty-free. Same goes with any other animal testing company.
