I could not be happier that Summer is finally here! Anytime we get some sunshine in Washington State, everyone goes nuts!
I am looking forward to a Summer of actually being outdoors for once. In the past, I have hid from the sun for most of the Summer and was indoors most days. I want to do something different this year: hike, try kayaking, maybe go to a lake…I don’t know, but the possibilities are hopefully endless because I think I’ll have plenty of free time for the first time in months.
With a new season, my makeup usually changes quite a bit. In the Summer, my preferred lip colors change, I always try new things with my eye makeup, and my face makeup actually changes the most. When it’s hot outside, I find that my makeup starts to melt off. The best way to avoid this is to go for a more natural look. Don’t get me wrong, you can still do your eyes and lips however you’d like. However, I like to go for more natural face products, not counting the bronzy highlight that I went for. Since it’s a creme product, it still looks much more subtle than a powder highlight would.
I didn’t use any powder on my face, and went with a long-lasting lip color and a creme base for my eyes, which does make quite a difference in helping your makeup last! On top of that, I used a setting spray, which is your best friend anytime you need your makeup to last for a long period of time.
It’s hard to make makeup 100% sweat-proof, and if you are going to be out in the sun all day, or be in the water, I would recommend very little to no makeup (and don’t forget SPF!!!). With that said, you could still wear makeup if you want, and this look today is one that I always come back to (though the eyes and lips change around) because it is so dependable.
Makeup should never make or break your day, but I totally get the feeling of liking how your makeup looks. Summer is always filled with Instagram-worthy photos after all. Still, enjoy the moment, the makeup should just be one highlight of an awesome day (see what I did there).
I hope that the Summer treats you well. Have fun, and make sure to get outside as much as you can!
