Salted caramel is a genius combination, but I don’t have to tell you that. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate takes the genius combo to the next level!
It took me awhile to jump onto the salted caramel bandwagon, but here I am, and here is my warm and cozy salted caramel hot chocolate.
I’ve said in the past that I’m not a coffee fan, making myself a complete disgrace to the state of Washington.
If I do go to a coffee shop, I get tea or hot chocolate. In the Fall, salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks is the perfect treat…totally just empty calories, but still makes me happy for a half hour.
I think we all know that Starbucks isn’t exactly a bargain, and is their salted caramel line is super unhealthy. Fortunately, it couldn’t be easier to make at home. With only 6 ingredients and less than 10 minutes, homemade salted caramel hot chocolate is ready to go. I highly recommend wrapping yourself up in the warmest blanket you own, put on Netflix or Hulu, and make sure you have this hot chocolate in hand. Can you think of a better way to end a long day? I definitely can’t.
This is the perfect treat to enjoy throughout Fall and Winter. As long as it’s cold outside and you’re craving something warm and indulgent, I can’t think anything better! The drink itself is really sweet, but obviously has the subtle saltiness to add to the overall irresistible flavor. I tried to use as little sweetening as possible, but I also wanted to imitate the flavor of a coffee shop, so I did have to sacrifice the “healthiness” of this hot chocolate a little bit. I figure hey, it’s not like any of us want to enjoy salted caramel hot chocolate for our health, right? On the bright side, this is 100% dairy-free, cholesterol free, lower in fat, and lower in sugar than nearly anything you’d buy at a shop, so you can enjoy this hot chocolate without feeling like you have to run a 5K the next day.
While Fall is an awesome time of the year, we don’t exactly get time off from work or school just because Halloween is coming up. Get over your stressful day with a cup of this salted caramel hot chocolate. It has saved me from some stressful days, and I feel confident that it could do the same for you.
Salted caramel lovers, rejoice. This is what dreams are made of (I hope I’m not the only one who just sang the song from the Lizzie McGuire movie)!
