By now you have probably seen smoothie bowls make their way around the internet. I must say, it’s for good reason! I tried my first smoothie bowl last Summer and I have been a believer ever since! Sometimes, a smoothie just does not satisfy me. I want something that I can chew, but I still love the taste of smoothies. With a smoothie bowl, you get the best of both worlds (no worries if you just started singing the song from Hannah Montana cause I did too).
Since Summer is officially here, smoothie bowls are perfect for breakfast. I don’t know about you, but when it’s hot out, the last thing I want to do is have something that will make me even warmer. I love nothing more than to sit outside in the morning and enjoy a cool and refreshing breakfast. Lately, this tropical green smoothie bowl has been my go-to! It took me awhile to jump on the green smoothie bowl bandwagon, but now that I’m there, I don’t see myself hopping off anytime soon. I love adding spinach to smoothies and smoothie bowls because you can’t even taste the spinach, but you are still getting a good share of greens without even trying! I am not as obsessive as I should be about getting several servings of veggies per day (my intake varies from 2-5 servings, but I don’t really track it), so I like to add a cup or two of spinach or kale into my smoothies to get those greens in. Adding greens to tropical smoothies is the best because it adds a tropical color-not that color really matters, but let’s be real, it does make a meal much more appetizing!
Consisting of my favorite tropical fruits: bananas, mangos, and pineapples, this smoothie bowl will create the illusion that you’re on vacation on some deserted island far away from all the worries in the world. Yeah, reality will probably hit once it’s time to get on with the rest of your day, but at least you’ll have a nice morning that will hopefully keep you doing! Though, keep in mind that smoothie bowls don’t have to be just for breakfast! They can also make a nice lunch or snack! I prefer them in the morning, but that is just a personal preference. Packed with greens and antoxidant-rich fruit, this smoothie bowl is super healthy and delicious, and is also so easy to make! Top with whatever you desire, and you have yourself an amazing breakfast that is filling and satisfying for the warm months in the year.
- 1-1.5 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk (or another nondairy milk)
- 2-3 Cups Spinach (can sub kale)
- 2 Frozen Bananas
- 1 Cup Mango
- 3/4 Cup Frozen Pineapple
- 1 Tbsp Lime Juice
- 1/4 Tsp Spirulina (optional)
- Add ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and there are little to no chunks.
- If there is any difficulty blending, add more almond milk
- Bowl into bowl(s) and add desired toppings
- Serve Immediately
- Adding almond milk into the blender first followed by spinach will ease the blending process
Whatever your plans are this Summer, I hope you can enjoy the outdoors (and you know, also watch Netflix).
What are your favorite breakfasts for Summer? Besides smoothie bowls, I love nice cream and chia pudding! Something quick and cold that I can whip up in minutes!
